Rain gardens, vegetated swales and rock-pitched channels across a residential precinct.
The challenge
Convey and cleanse runoff across a new precinct using source controls that residents would actually live alongside.
Our approach
We installed a connected network of rain gardens and vegetated swales sized to the catchment, with rock pitching at flow points to prevent scour.
The outcome
A 2.4 km swale network that manages runoff at source and reads as landscape rather than infrastructure.
Project timeline
Months 1-3
Setting out & earthworks
Swale and rain-garden profiles formed across the precinct.
Months 3-6
Media & rock pitching
Filter media placed and rock pitching installed at flow points.
Months 6-8
Planting & handover
Planting established and the network handed over.
